VAMM Steel Oy is proud to be part of the story of Finnish elite athletes. Our collaboration with wrestlers Waltteri Latvala and Nestori Mannila is an excellent example of how work life, sports, and values can go hand in hand.
Both athletes have worked multiple times at VAMM Steel Oy through summer jobs and fixed-term internships alongside their training. In addition, VAMM Steel Oy has supported their sports careers through sponsorships – enabling international competitions, training camps, and development toward the world’s top level.
Fresh top results
The year 2026 has started on a remarkable note:
-
Nestori Mannila won the Finnish Men’s Championship, crowning his long-term efforts at the domestic top level.
-
Waltteri Latvala claimed first place at the prestigious Kristjan Palusalu Tournament, demonstrating strong form on international arenas as well.
-
Waltteri Latvala earned a silver medal at the Finnish Men’s Championships, complementing his strong domestic success.
These achievements are no coincidence – they are the result of hard work, discipline, and the right support networks.
Work and elite sports in one package
In interviews, both athletes highlighted VAMM Steel Oy’s most significant strength from an athlete’s perspective: genuine flexibility and understanding.
“Sports always come first. When there are training sessions, camps, or competitions, things are arranged smoothly without conflict. That has been a big deal.” – Waltteri
“Here, it’s understood that elite sports is work just like factory work. Both are taken seriously.” – Nestori
The possibility to align work schedules with training and competition calendars has been crucial for the athletes’ well-being and development. This reflects VAMM Steel Oy’s culture: people and their goals are met individually.
Why corporate support for sports matters
Elite sports today requires a lot: travel, training camps, and international sparring partners. In few sports can an athlete focus full-time solely on their sport.
Corporate support:
-
enables development to an international level
-
provides security and continuity for the athlete
-
strengthens the company’s values and image as a responsible actor
As Nestori summarized in the interview: when a company supports an athlete who truly knows the daily life and people of the company, the collaboration is genuine – not just a logo on a shirt.
Looking ahead
Nestori is next heading to the U23 European Championships in Serbia, and Waltteri aims for the Men’s European Championships in Albania. Both have high goals – and so does their belief in what they can achieve.
At VAMM Steel Oy, we are proud to be part of this journey. Success comes from hard work, the right values, and supporting each other – both on the factory floor and at the top of sport.
